In 1999, biological corridors were created and bestowed as “Gift to the Earth from Bhutan”. It provide linkages and connectivity between the different Protected Areas thus making Bhutan a bastion of conservation and ecological hotspot in the world. It was created to provide a safe and free passage for different animal species to move from one Protected Areas to another; from sub-tropical ecosystem of the Royal Manas National Park to the alpine regions of Jigme Dorji National Park, and lateral connectivity from the Jigme Khesar Strict Nature Reserve to the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary and the Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Project focus is on four BCs (BC1, 2 , 4 and 8)
- BC1 that connects JKSNR to Jigme Dorji National Park (JDNP), BC2 that connects JDNP to JSWNP, BC8 that connects JSWNP to Wangchuck Centennial Park (WCP) and JDNP, BC4 that connects JSWNP to PNP, and PNP to Royal Manas National Park (RMNP).
